Tangles can be a real problem in hair chronically exposed to chlorine. Tangles occur for many reasons. First, the hair cuticle (link) stands up like barbed-wire and gets caught on other ragged edges standing up, resulting in tangling and knots . Second, because the frayed ends are also ragged, they too will contribute to tangling .
Severe damage from oxidation will result in bird-nesting, that is, tangling so severe a person cannot get them out.
It is for these reasons, that it is not advised to pile hair on top of head (especially long hair) while shampooing. This will only encourage greater tangling.
So what can you do when tangles are a problem for you? PoolHead solves this problem by laying down the cuticle layer and protecting hair from oxidation due to chlorine.
Here is something else you can do. Use hot water (not burning hot) to rinse hair after using Recovery Conditioner and comb out with detangling comb . This technique can solve the most unruly tangling.
